THE JOURNEY OF THE 2022 DELEGATION
REGENSBURG TO NEW YORK
Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC) – Our NMUN Country
The DRC is located in Central Africa and is the largest country in sub-Saharan Africa by area. Centered on the Congo Basin, it is home to some of the largest tropical rainforests in the world. With around 92 million inhabitants (according to UNFPA), the DRC is the most populous officially francophone country in the world.
We are 19 students from the University of Regensburg with different fields of study who are interested in experiencing the inner structure of the UN up close. This year’s delegation will be representing the Democratic Republic of the Congo at the NMUN Conference A which will be held in New York from April 3-7, 2022.
Our Way to NYC
Our instructor Christian Sigl is intensively preparing this year’s delegation for the conference in New York. Both the weekly in-depth lectures and the participation in the UN simulation conference in Regensburg thoroughly prepare the delegation for their UN project in spring 2022.
ABOUT OUR DELEGATION
The UN, through its many institutions and organizations, has the ability to make a practical difference in people’s lives while attempting to implement policies that have a lasting impact on a global scale.
The UN is an international forum for cross-border communication and cooperation, working multilaterally to achieve humanity’s noblest goals. We are fascinated by the idea of coming together at the world’s largest UN simulation conference in New York and working side by side with young people from all over the world.
Every Wednesday, we meet as a delegation in class and listen to our fellow delegates holding presentations about the Democratic Republic of the Congo. We inform each other about and critically discuss the historical background of the country, its international agenda, and the role of the DRC within the UN.
